Is FCS accredited?

The FCS 7th – 12th grade Jr-Sr High is accredited by the Arkansas Nonpublic School Accrediting Association (ANSAA). ANSAA accreditation is recognized by the Arkansas Department of Education; and ANSAA is affiliated with the National Federation of Nonpublic School State Accrediting Associations, which is approved by the U.S. Office of Education, and by CASE (Council for the Advancement and Support of Education).

What is the FCS dress code?

We feel that the dress code is an important part of the school program because the dress code influences THE ATMOSPHERE OF THE SCHOOL. Our goal is to have our students look sharp and modest. The dress code also develops a sense of what is appropriate dress in public. A “business casual” style is most appropriate for school. The dress code enhances school spirit.

FCS enforces its dress code. All students and parents must fully accept the dress code and must cooperate with the school in expecting our students to follow it. We have found that the most effective way to achieve our goals in the dress of our students in the 6th – 12th grades is to require them to wear uniforms.

The K3 –5th grade girls wear modest dresses or skirts and the K3 – 5th grade boys wear appropriate shirts, and slacks or jeans. School uniform style shorts may be worn in summer and spring.

The 6th – 12th grades wear uniforms. The girls must purchase their skirts though the school uniform company. Boys may purchase their uniforms at most stores.

For more details, see the FCS School Dress Code.

What are FCS’ standardized test scores?

FCS administers the Stanford Achievement Test to the first, third, sixth, eighth, and eleventh grades.

Typically our classes average in the 60th National Percentile Rank. That number reflects all the students in our classes, including new transfers, etc.

To measure the quality of our program, we also take an average of students who have been in our school at least three years. Typically our students who have been here at least three years score in the 75th National Percentile Rank.

Do FCS volunteers receive a discount on their tuition?

Some volunteers do receive a discount on their tuition. All schools depend upon parents volunteering to help in their programs. FCS also depends upon parents to make the program work. Parents who volunteer to fulfill a regular position may have their tuition discounted depending upon the position they are filling.

What is the enrollment process for FCS?

FCS desires to minister to as many students as possible. FCS admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at school. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of our educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic or other school administered programs.

We accept only students who are willing and able to receive a Christian education and who are willing to conform to the academic and behavior standards of the school both at school and elsewhere. Students whose behavior does not conform to the standards of the school will not be allowed to enroll, or will not be allowed to continue to be enrolled in the school. BEFORE ENROLLING THEIR CHILDREN, PARENTS SHOULD REVIEW THE STANDARDS OF FCS CAREFULLY TO ENSURE THAT THE STANDARDS OF THE HOME DO NOT CONFLICT WITH THE STANDARDS OF THE SCHOOL.

The Enrollment Process includes the following steps:

Parents contact school
School sends a brochure and applications
Parent/student complete applications and return them to the school with previous school records
Administrator reviews applications
Parent/Student interview with Administrator
Student visits the school (when school is in session)
Administration makes and communicates enrollment decision
Parent completes forms and pays fees
School sends for official transcripts
Family attends FCS School Family Seminar

Does FCS have chapel services?

All K3 – 12th grade classes have Bible class every day. The 1st – 6th grades have chapel once a week. The 7th –12th grades have special assemblies or chapel once or twice a month.

Does FCS provide hot lunches?

School lunches are available for a nominal fee. FCS is part of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). Applications for free or reduced lunches are available in the lunchroom or in the school office. Typical lunch menus include: Soup and sandwich; Baked potato with ham and cheese; Beef nachos; Spaghetti with beef; Pizza, and side dishes of vegetables, fruit, salad, and desserts.

Students at FCS may bring their lunches from home, but they may not order out lunches. Microwave ovens are NOT available.

Does FCS provide transportation to school?

FCS does not provide transportation to or from school. Many families do car pool.

The school owns a couple of busses which are used for field trips and extra-curricular activities. The transportation fee goes to the pay these expenses.

Does FCS have athletics?

FCS is the home of the Eagles! Extra-curricular activities are an important part of the FCS program. Our Jr.-Sr. High is a member of the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA), and participates in basketball, track, etc. We are the AAA State 1 A Basketball Champions for 2007!

Our elementary grades participate in pee-wee leagues.

What is the FCS curriculum?

Our curriculum includes K3 through 12th grades. We use mostly the A Beka Curriculum, supplemented with textbooks from Bob Jones University Press and other sources. Our curriculum is an excellent combination of high academic standards, sound educational principles, and Biblical truth. It is designed for the average student. We utilize the traditional classroom format.

Our goal is to offer our students an excellent academic foundation whether they are going further in their education or they are going into the work world. Our curriculum is designed to do that, and our test scores demonstrate that we have been successful.

The spiritual development of our students is the top priority at FCS. Academic development is second. We have found that when students are properly focused upon the Lord, they do well in their academics.

Are FCS teachers certified?

Although some of our teachers are licensed to teach by the Arkansas Department of Education, FCS teachers are not required to be licensed.

All of our 7th – 12th grade teachers hold college degrees as required by ANSAA accreditation, and the majority (80%) teaches within the fields of their degrees.

Some of our elementary teachers do not hold college degrees, but they adhere to the daily curriculum guides and schedules provide in our curriculum; and they are trained and supervised by teachers with decades of teaching experience.

Are FCS parents required to volunteer in the school?

Although FCS relies completely upon its parent to staff our school, FCS parents are not required to volunteer in the school.

What is the average class size at FCS?

Class sizes vary in the K3 – 8th grades from 18 to 24 students.

The high school courses typically have from 5 to 20 students in them.

How many students attend FCS?

We usually have about 280 students divided as follows:

K3 – K5: 60

1st – 6th: 110

7th – 12th: 110

Is there a before school or after school program?

We do not have a before school or after school program. There is an extended care program for our K3 – K5 students.

Does FCS have alternate academic programs, such as Advanced Placement, Special Education, or Resource?

FCS does not have alternate academic programs. Our curriculum is designed to challenge and meet the academic needs of the “average” student.

Does FCS accept students who have been suspended, or expelled from other schools?

FCS is not a reform school. In the past, we have given some previously disciplined students the opportunity to attend our school; and we have found that 99% of the time they bring a rebellious attitude into our school. Some young people make bad choices, and then they have a genuine change of heart: those young people can benefit from the opportunity to establish a better life. Because of our past experience, we generally do not admit students who have been disciplined in their previous school. To even be considered for admission those students must have had a change of heart. The must have recommendations from their spiritual leaders or pastors. They must present their case to the FCS school board. They must be willing to accept a very strict probation in which they may be expelled for what they consider to be minor offenses.

Can FCS high school students drive to school?

FCS high school students may drive to school. All students who drive to school must park their cars in the upper parking lot. Student may not return to their cars during the school day.

Does FCS have an open campus?

FCS does not have an open campus. No students may, under any circumstances, leave the church/school property unless they have received prior permission from the administration. Students must always have a written or verbal authorization from their parents to the administration for permission to leave the school grounds.

ALL visitors must sign in at the school office. Anyone on school grounds without authorization from the administration will be required to leave.

Does FCS teach doctrine in Bible class?

It is impossible to teach the Bible without teaching doctrine. For example, Genesis 1:1 is the doctrine of creation. FCS teaches Biblical doctrines, and we evaluate all spiritual teaching according to the Bible.

The K3 – K5 classes emphasize the Bible teachings of who God is and his love for us, especially as expressed through the Lord Jesus Christ.

The 1st – 6th grades emphasis the Bible stories, facts and characters.

The 7th – 12th grades emphasize applying Biblical truth to our lives in salvation, Christian living, and holding the Biblical worldview.

Because FCS is an educational ministry of the Mission Blvd. Baptist Church, we do teach the Bible from the historic Baptist perspective. FCS has had the privilege to have students of many faiths in our program. While we respect the right of others to hold different beliefs, FCS teaches and upholds the historic Baptist viewpoint. See our Statement of Faith.

Does a family have to be members of Mission Blvd. Baptist Church (MBBC) for its children to attend FCS?

FCS is a ministry program of MBBC, but students and staff are welcome from other churches. In 2007about 65 % of our students and 50% of our staff are from other churches.

The mission of Fayetteville Christian School is to provide a sound, affordable, Christian education based upon the Bible. Our purpose is to train our students to be Christian leaders. Our K3 – 12 program is designed for families who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and are dedicated to serving Him.
